16th December – Leanabh an Àigh
Mary MacDonald, who lived at Ardtun, Ross of Mull wrote the words for Leanabh a Àigh, but the tune is a much older traditional Scottish tune. Leanabh an Àigh appeared in print after Mary’s death. The carol was also translated into English. In 1931, English words appeared that were connected with the same tune. That was ‘Morning has Broken’.
